Stereo Version
A variety of productions for a university assignment to create using digital effects describing dynamics and simulations. Many productions were created entirely in Maya, however, Real Flow proved invaluable in creating realistic physically based fluid simulations as it had a very minimal learning curve with realistic looking particle effects very easy to achieve using the node based structure for simulation creation. In addition, XGen within Maya was used extensively for set creation. For this assessment I worked on three productions in a different variety of roles for each production. I worked as Director/Producer for Fruit Burst, Set Creation and Design for Truck Drivers and Fluid Effects for Breaking the Ice. As the sole crew member for Fruit Burst I was in charge of time management, look and design as well as technical aspects such as fluid simulation, rendering and animation. This involved working within Real Flow to create physically based fluid simulations which were then imported into Maya through the production pipeline and placed within the scene in Maya. Working on Truck Drivers involved extensive work with XGen to create a realistic placement, formation and scale of a desert landscape that is present within Central Australia where the story is set. This involved realistic modelling and creation of flora that is native to the desert climate. The use of XGen greatly increased the realism of the set and the ease of implementation from Directors input. The work for Breaking the Ice was very small however, is very effective when used in the scene. The champagne spray was once again simulated within Real Flow and imported into Maya which then allowed me to rig the simulation into the bottle prop which was handed over to the Producer who then had the bottle and simulation animated within the scene. |
