Hey guys,
I have already started my community project with contact with Don't Text and Drive Foundation http://dont-txt-n-drive.com/index.html and have a script sorted out and approved by Vicki the President: Don’t Text and Drive Log Line: A driver is texting their mother whilst driving, leading to a crash and fatality. Style: Low poly, heavy stylized, contains shifting pastel colours to highlight mood shifts. Texting Driver - (F) Coloured orange*. Mother - (F) Coloured pink**. Father - (M) Coloured yellow**. Mood/Tone: Warm and exciting to begin with, pastel colours, colour bleeds out to deep blues to show sombre. Frame 1 - (Establishing shot) open to a car travelling down a curvy road. Texting Driver is looking casual in the driver’s seat (Coloured orange). There is some music playing and the sun is high in the sky. Frame 2 - (POV) Cut to interior of the car in the first person perspective. Dashboard is simple, car is travelling at 80km/hr. Frame 3 – (Medium Shot) Mother sitting at a kitchen table, there is a clock on the wall. Phone sitting at her left hand on the table. Mother picks up phone and creates a message***. Cue: New message sound. Frame 3 - (POV) Camera glances at phone on passenger chair, audiences hand picks up phone. Camera refocuses on the road with the hand holding the phone at the bottom of the fame. A truck is driving toward the Driver on the opposite side of the road. Frame 4 - (POV) Driver opens and message which obscures the majority of the windscreen. The audience can see the car begin to swerve into the opposite lane through the periphery of the windscreen. Cue: Truck Horn Frame 5 - (POV) the Driver startled by the horn closes the message and observes that they are now in the opposite lane and heading head on with the truck. Driver grabs the steering wheel and swerves back into their lane. Frame 6 - (Medium shot) Driver opens message, obscuring windscreen and replies to the message. Cue: New Message sound Frame 7 – Mother opens test message, father walks into the frame and stands next to the mother. Mother replies to message with, “see you soon, love you lots”. Cue: New Message sound Frame 8 – (POV) Driver opens text obscuring windscreen. Audience can see the Driver begin to swerve to the left off the road. Frame 9 - (POV) Driver hits a tree, the message bubble and windscreen shatters. The POV camera is launched out the windscreen and comes to rest on the crumpled bonnet facing interior of the car. Frame 10 – (Medium Shot) Driver is slumped over the steering wheel. Driver moves slightly and her colour begins to change from orange to blue. Shot holds for 5 seconds. Frame 11 – (Medium Shot) Mother looks at clock, messages Driver, “where are you?” Cue: Doorbell Frame 12 – (Medium Shot) Mother is looking at clock, father walks out of frame (to answer door) there is indistinct chattering off screen, mother looks toward the door. Cue: Door Close Frame 13 – (Medium Shot) Father walks into frame, the mother stands and hugs the father, colours shift from pink and yellow to blue. Both begin to cry. Fade to black. No Cue, Complete silence Frame 13 – Text appears on screen: Texting and Driving is fatal. Don’t Text and Drive. * Orange represents both the Orange Days and the vibrancy of the Driver ** Pink and Yellow are warm colours that influence a happy feeling and also when mixed together for the orange of the Driver showing the relationship. *** When messages are sent, the characters view is blocked by a blow up message that is formed from the phone screen. Notes: POV - Point of View Cues are for reference to where main audio cues will be, other audio will be within the production as part of the overall sound design. and I have also done up a storyboard which has also been approved: http://imgur.com/s5BhgyC hopefully it goes well! Hey guys,
I got a 3D printer today and just started learning how to use Cura properly to get the desired print and it is so much fun! I printed out a little robot that came preloaded with the printer, then I progressed onto printing out my own model of a honey drizzlier. Took a few efforts to get the drizzlier looking good and well formed but I am so happy with the results! The model and .gcode is available here for your own printing. Hey guys,
I purchased a 3D printer yesterday and I have aready started work learning how to set my prints up so that they come out looking beautiful and not like a giant mess. For my second model I modelled and printed I modelled the Wolf School Medallion from one of my favourite games The Witcher 3! It looks pretty when all rendered out in Maya. Just waiting for the printer to produce the finished print to see how it goes! Hi everyone! so the production is finally done! All the shots were rendered in stereo for 220 so that is awesome that it is finalised. The renders look really cool, wish i could have done a more realistic looking advertisement but that has to be left for another day. Here it is in stereo: https://youtu.be/bv6HYjs4aRs here is the showreel: https://youtu.be/fGKxilSd2kE Here is the final production: Hi everybody.
We did some reshoots for Beat It Quietly in the mocap room and got some really good takes using tom as the granny and drummer. There were a few hiccups with the data collection mostly from the way we wanded I think as we start recording at only 20000 points in some cameras whereas others were lower which could have lead to inconsistent camera calibration. PLus we learnt that some science student like to come into the motion capture room and touch the cameras and move them around so that could also be a cause for the motion capture to be very glitchy. hellooooo!
so we have done some more progress with the motion capture for the wedding. I have progressed really well in learning how to use motion capture and incorporate my own character animation layers ontop of the base imported motion capture. This has allowed me to create realistic animation of weightlessness of the character in joshs animation and some nice facial animation. https://youtu.be/oaQ1kLyqd2U https://youtu.be/YlBe3TbUOGU Hi everybody,
I have created my motionbuilder story and am in the process of importing the motion builder story into maya. I have found that motion capture clean up within motion builder has proved to be extremely finiky and annoying so I have been importing the motion builder characterised character and data on the story into Maya and am doing the clean up using maya graph editor and key framming within maya. The process is working for me and the mocap is working really well! hello everyone,
I have made some progress with motion capture and learning motionbuilder with the help of a few quick start guides, digital tutors a little though they arent very helpful; and Alex Russo who has kinda made her ambition to be an awesome mocapper. I have found an awesome guide that goes through the menu set and interface of motionbuilder to help you get started and get comfortable with how the workflow is done: http://mocappys.com/using-motionbuilder-story-tool/ Hi Everyone, Beat It Quietly is finished and with very limited time frame I think we pulled a production off pretty well! Showreel: https://youtu.be/Q9cGc6yeelA Beat It Quietly 3D: https://youtu.be/7JwRkFtgGtQ Beat It Quietly 2D: hey everyone,

we are almost finished beat it quietly with the renders looking superb and amazing, really love the way we managed to produce our animation in such a strict timeline and using dream team work flow and a actual production pipeline we have created a masterpiece. Hi people, I have finished the set for Truck Drivers. I initially started with xgen within Maya 2016, however the production pipeline ran into several issues with referencing scenes into other scenes within Maya, with archives and collections not coming across or not working properly resulting in huge performance impacts on rendering, instancing issues and overall mess with the production. As such, I moved to using a mel script that generates a particle system on a designated surface and then creates an instance at each particle location, this wasn't very efficient for multiple instancing meshes and resulted in a very geometric pattern on the landscape, however was very efficient when rendering and working. However, once again, the production pipeline hit a roadblock and the instanced meshes were failing when referencing into other scenes and were causing significant problems in rendering. Finally, I have settled with the creation of duplicates of the original meshes using a python script that duplicates a set amount of objects for applications such as generating multiple duplicates of an initial mesh when creating blendshapes and combining it with a different python script that randomly placed the duplicated meshes onto the designated mesh, this produced a much more believable and random distribution of the foliage. In addition, the production pipeline encountered no issues when it came to referencing between scenes. Overall the set looks very nice and suits the Director and production well. Hi everyone,
The final design for the POSBIS has been reached and all different iterations have been under work to get ready for the official launch of the business their website: http://www.posbiz.com.au/http://www.posbiz.com.au/ Here is an album of progression and different variants of the logo: http://imgur.com/a/Dp9Ap Hey guys,
I have progressed further with my fluid simulations with my stereo rig set up and the fluids looking great. I have settled with Mental Ray even though its slower is looks very nice. The fluid simulations look very nice and the stereo aspect is coming along nicely. https://youtu.be/CQnBvlZThiA https://youtu.be/A9SOGuAdjk8 Hello guys,
So i have done some more work in real flow getting my fluids to looks very smoothie like, thick and gloopy like how I want them, I have successfully learnt how to import them into Maya and tested using different renderers to render out the fluids. So far I have found mental ray gets the best results however is extremely slow, I would have preferred to use Maxwell renderer which is included with realflow but Maya needs the Maxwell Renderer plugin, or to use Furryball, a gpu renderer which is insanely fast and gets amazing results however, it is very expensive and our uni doesnt have access to it either. I have created a few different fluid sims and created some nice fruit shattering into little candies which is very cool! https://youtu.be/pSXf0QajFIo https://youtu.be/8VQJ9iguDIw https://youtu.be/DCo95pOGuwE http://imgur.com/a/mDIDY hi everyone!
i have my scripts for my realflow assessment: Script: Opening shot, mid-shot: an orange, pear, apple and banana sitting in a white room with a speaker facing them. Shot 2, mid-shot: music plays from speaker and the fruit vibrate and burst into liquid. Shot 3, mid-shot: camera pans up as the liquids flow up into the air and begin to swirl around each other. Shot 4, close up: slow motion as the fluids converge and splash together to form a new liquid. Shot 5, close-up: the fluid speeds up and falls as a swirl into the open top of a glass bottle. Shot 6, mid-shot: the liquid fills the bottle. Shot 7, mid-shot: condensation forms on the bottle. Shot 8, mid-shot: camera pans to follow the bottle as it falls and splashes into a puddle of water. Shot 9, mid-shot: text zooms in describing the slogan of the drink. Shot 10, close-up: text dissolves into bubbles and forms a liquid. Shot 11, long shot: the fluid flows upwards out of the shot. Shot 12: fade to black. I have most assets now and just need to begin Realflow development. Hi everyone!
So i have been doing some tests in realflow getting so fluid simulations down pat, learning how to use the settings in real flow to get convincing fluids. Great thing about real flow is that every setting has a left click option which explains each settings affect, examples of when to use them, what settings they should be set to and how they affect the fluids which is so much more useful than getting the information from Digital Tutors or from a teacher. So here are some tests of some fluids pouring into a bottle using emitters and a few daemons. https://youtu.be/XKXT9_xXBxo https://youtu.be/6wttM-gt2rY https://youtu.be/ZiwHEv1fq5k hi everyone,
for our second assessment, I have decided I would like to use realflow and use particle effects to simulate liquids, fluids, smoke pretty much anything can be simulated with realflow. For my own sole production I will be creating a very simple liquid simulation where i will be exploding some fruit! I will also be helping josh with his bride dynamics animation using ncloth for disintegration and maybe a few other things for others or even a third year projects! I have started tutorials for realflow, learnt ncloth last session with vfx 106 which is helpful and realflow is going very quickly even though i dont have a computer and the labs are constantly being used so we cant do any work during the day. Hello!
For assessment has been off to a rocky start with my entire first week sick and not any work being able to be done so not good! we have a story now though which is great! Here is the rough script for it, we will be using mo cap for both characters and Faceware for the Granny so we get very nice facial deformations: Beat it Quietly Characters: - Granny - Master-beater Script: (Opening shot): Afternoon outside two apartment buildings in the middle of a low-income part of the city. *Fade in* Close up of a hideous looking old lady with cucumbers on her eyes trying to get a beauty sleep with a slimy grin. *Fade in* Young man sitting down at his drum set and prepping to play. *Cut to* Old lady startled aggressively by loud drum note and gets up quickly with cucumbers flying off her face. Mumbling to herself quietly. Shot from the window of the young man playing the drums aggressively and passionately with the old lady seen in the background yelling inaudibly and shaking her fists. Old lady notices he can’t hear her and retreats back into the room, retrieving a cucumber limply towards camera and throws it across to the man’s bedroom but he doesn’t even notice. Close up of old lady’s face as she scowls in disgust at the young mans beating. Old Lady: (Angrily) “Can’t believe he’s beating that at this hour!” Shot of the nightstand with items scattered across it and her hand reaches into frame and grabs a bottle of moisturiser. Shot of moisturiser flying across, followed by other items on the nightstand such as hairbrush, alarm clock, etc. As the drummer reaches the climax of the song he misses the final crash and the old lady throws her teeth and it accidently hits the crash just at the right moment. Drummer is amazed and turns to her exclaiming, “WOAH, thanks you saved me with that final note there!” Close up of old lady furious and veiny. here is the production schedule: http://i.imgur.com/aczwAyt.png here is the animatic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJSjxn5kAyg so far the crew is: Me - Director Tom Barker - Producer Joshua Rubio - Crew Hi everyone,
having a two week break at the moment from university so I have taken up a client work to design a logo from scratch so I basically get free reign to design a logo myself! here is an album of some concept and progression of the logo with the approval of the client: http://imgur.com/a/S5CnO thanks! Hi everyone!!!
finished my map and submitted for everyone to see! here is a cinematic of most of the map, there are still some hidden areas: http://youtu.be/iG6h-2JqU1A here is the showreel for the creation of my map: http://youtu.be/4G98CMywAi8 here is the map as an executable if you wanted to download and play it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2ZfAU9E-uUvck5xbllIY1JaNFE/view?usp=sharing the file is about 3gb big, it is a compressed .rar file all you have to do it extract the folder and run the .exe file to play the map. It is packaged for Windows-64 bit Operating System. hi everyone!!
Finished my special effect I think, it isn't great but it looks alright: http://youtu.be/FvdVNDK_Nm4 And here is the showreel: http://youtu.be/H4fNgTE2U04 thankyou! hey guys,
I am completely finished set dressing now I think, have all my blueprints up and running perfectly! My airlock is running well and everything is looking pretty polished! I have to fix some light maps still but most are fixed up and working well! I have got all the props I need and I am still working on optimizing my map so it will run smoothly on the computers within the studio for the oculus rift because the studio computers don't seem to be able to run my map smoothly. video: http://youtu.be/ZbqMNXEfwm0 hello!
I did my filming today and have started my final editing and creating my showreel! Here is a little clip of my effect working. I ran into some troubles with my pump where it was getting clogged because I hadn't stirred the blood which was very annoying. Will hopefully re film tomorrow to get the exact result I want! video: http://youtu.be/c8UB4HPnKQ |
